In 1995, filmmakers Justin Holstein and Chad Calek began documenting
Calek's band, 35 Inch Mudder, in hopes of making a documentary on
trying to make it as a band from the most unlikely off all places, Des
Moines, Iowa. But Calek nor Holstein could have guessed what would take
place over the next decade. In a town that barely had a local music
scene, much less a genre specific metal scene, a local radio station
war occurred, pitting Calek's rap metal 35 Inch Mudder against another
then rap-metal band named Slipknot.
Slipknot would go on
to sell millions of records and become the most successful metal band
in the world today. 35 Inch Mudder, due to the local commercial radio
support and high-octane live show, would become the leaders of the then
exploding Des Moines, Iowa local metal scene - a scene that in less
that a year had grown from near non-existance, to being praised by many
national publications and industry experts as the "The Next Seattle".

Zeke Lareau, known by many as "The Player", and Auggie Jacobs, the
simple one who has never caused a problem, are two college seniors who
have never met. Both are only a semester away from graduation, or so
they think.
Teaming up to do a class project, a simple documentary about something
they truly believe in, they realize that even though their
personalities are night and day, they share a common trait in standing
up for what they believe.

IN POST-PRODUCTION
Every April, an intense and competitive
subculture explodes throughout the United States with the seasonal
opening of men’s slow pitch softball. Tens of thousands of registered
teams begin their leagues in aljost every city and town across America.
For many of these players, the season means recreational sport,
camaraderie, beer and entertainment.
For a select few,
however, the word "recreational" does not apply to their brand of
softball. With their eyes set on the September Worlds Tournament some
players are engaged in a personal quest for greater validation and the
Ultimate Victory. Just as 44 Core represents the designated density of
softballs to be used in regulation and tournament play, these players
are the core substance in a multi-million dollar industry that is
uniquely American.

True Player Entertainment produced three commercial film projects for Pepsi/Mountain Dew/AMP Energy Drink whiched aired on MTV2 and MTV2.com last year.
The projects, titled the Amp Video 6Packs, were part of a download competition on MTV2 between the nation's top 'up-and-coming' acts called the Amp Bands Video Brawl.
The three projects produced by True Player were Taking Back Sunday (Victory Records), Index Case (True Player Records) and Dynamite Boy (Fearless Records).
