A Clown Short of Destiny does it again! |
|
After winning the coveted "Director's Choice Award for Best Music Documentary" at the 2006 Park City Music Festival, A Clown Short of Destiny followed up with its second screening on March 11th in Los Angeles, CA at the 2006 New York Independent International Film Festival.
IT was announced march 27th, 2006 that A Clown Short of Destiny was again blessed with the top documentary honor presented by the 2006 New York International Independent Film and Video Festival, by being awarded with the "Audience Award for Best Documentary." Due to the overwhelming response and critical acclaim that A Clown Short of Destiny has received in sweeping top documentary honors in both festivals in which it has screened, director Chad Calek and team are now contemplating doing a few more screenings for fans and filmgoers to enjoy before moving into distribution.
A Clown Short of Destiny director, Chad Calek, also had the following to say: "I CAN'T EVEN BEGIN TO PUT INTO WORDS HOW MUCH HEART, SOUL AND BRAVERY FROM THE SCENE WENT INTO MAKING THIS FILM. FINALLY, THE WORLD IS BEGINNING TO WAKE UP TO THE INCREDIBLE STORY THAT IS THE DES MOINES, IOWA LOCAL MUSIC SCENE. I'M HONORED TO TAKE HOME THESE AWARDS...BUT TO BE HONEST, IT FEELS A BIT DUBIOUS TO ME, AS I CANNOT BRING MYSELF TO FEEL AS THOUGH THEY ARE "MY" AWARDS. THESE AWARDS BELONG TO THE AMAZING MUSICIANS THAT MADE, AND CONTINUE TO MAKE SOME OF THE MOST INNOVATIVE, ORIGINAL AND FLAT OUT KICK ASS MUSIC THAT I'VE EVER HEARD. IT'S JUST UNFORTUNATE THAT DES MOINES, IOWA MUSIC SCENE, WITHOUT JUST CAUSE IN MY OPINION, HAS BEEN KEPT UNDER WRAPS FOR THIS LONG. ALOT OF THE BANDS THAT YOU SEE AND HEAR IN THE FILM ARE NO MORE, AND THAT IS TRULY UNFORTUNATE. BUT TOWARDS THE END OF THE FILM, YOU HEAR AND SEE A FEW BANDS THAT ARE STILL ROCKING THE DES MOINES CLUBS TODAY, AND TRUE TO THE DES MOINES LEGACY, THEY ARE INCREDIBLY ORIGINAL AND CLEARLY READY FOR THE NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT. WITH EVERY INTERVIEW I DO, WITH EVERY SCREENING OF FILM, OR EVERY PROMO TOUR I EMBARK ON, IT'S A VERY SPECIAL FEELING TO KNOW THAT THE TRUTH ABOUT SUCH A SPECIAL PLACE - A PLACE THAT DEFINED MY LIFE IN SUCH A POSITIVE WAY - IS FINALLY MAKING ITS WAY TO THE EYES AND EARS OF THE PUBLIC."
- Chad Calek, Director - A Clown Short of Destiny.
